This Privacy Policy explains how Lernlang (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

Unless you create an account, your learning data — the words you have studied, your streak, your placement results, and your settings — is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us.
If you create an account (optional)
Accounts are optional and are never created automatically. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive:
We never see or receive your Apple or Google password. Authentication is handled entirely by those providers.
Some installations from earlier versions of the app hold an anonymous identifier that was created automatically, with no email, name, or other personal information attached. Current versions do not create these, and any existing one can be deleted from inside the app.

We do not collect precise location, biometric data, government identifiers, contacts, photos, or payment card details. We do not collect your Apple or Google password.

When you have an account, a summary of your progress for each language — such as experience points, streak, number of words learned, and placement level — is stored on our servers and associated with your account identifier. This exists so that your progress can be restored if you lose or replace your device.
Your progress is protected by row-level security rules, meaning each account can only read and write its own records.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app, under the account section of your profile. Deleting your account permanently removes your account record and the progress stored on our servers. This cannot be undone.
The learning data stored locally on your device is not affected by deleting your account, and you can continue using the app without one. To remove the local data as well, delete the app from your device.
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple and must be cancelled through your Apple account settings.
If you purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store, payment information is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store your credit card or payment details. We receive only your subscription status, through RevenueCat, so the app knows which features to unlock.
We use the following third-party providers to operate the Service. Each processes data on our behalf and is required to protect it.
Certain features of the Service may use artificial intelligence (“AI”) provided by third-party providers such as Google Gemini to generate conversational responses, explanations, translations, and language-learning assistance.
Messages and content submitted through AI-powered features may be securely transmitted to these providers for processing and response generation.
AI-generated content may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate and should not be relied upon as professional advice. Please avoid submitting sensitive personal information through AI chat features.
We do not sell your personal data.

If you have an account, we keep your account record and the progress attached to it until you delete your account. Once deleted, both are removed from our live systems immediately and from routine backups within 30 days.
Analytics and crash data are retained according to the retention settings of the providers listed above, and are not tied to your name or email address.

The fastest way to exercise your right to deletion is the delete option inside the app. For anything else, contact us at langlernofficial@gmail.com and we will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Lernlang is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data is encrypted in transit. Account records are protected by row-level security rules so that one account cannot read another’s data, and administrative access to our database is restricted to credentials that never leave our servers.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect your information. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, any account information and progress you choose to back up is transferred to and stored in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those in your country. By creating an account, you consent to this transfer.
If you use the Service without an account, your learning data stays on your device and is not transferred anywhere.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by law. Continued use of the Service means you accept the updated policy.
